Really unique take on a samurai coming to a foreign land, never read anything quite like this before. Lots of twists and turns to keep you engaged. I read this book and fell in love with it! I was entertained from beginning to end with the action and plot of the story. I felt the author really grasps his readers by the development of the characters and really intriguing scenario of using of the author using early California as his backdrop. I also read Chavez's first novel, Virtuoso. Motivated me to read more from this budding author!
